AS400 Application Developer

Summary:

Our client is looking to hire two AS400 Application Developers to work in a small IT department to build and maintain in-house applications including P&C, Claims and Billing applications.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Design, develop and test solutions compatible with existing systems.
  • Maintain and enhance existing applications to optimize product performance.
  • Perform systems analysis needed to support the operations of the company.
  • Collaborate with internal departments and the support team to troubleshoot system and application issues.
  • Draft technical documentation and design detailed flow charts and test plans.
  • Excellent hardware and software troubleshooting skills and experience in IBM Power systems (iSeries, AS400).
  • Good understanding of EDI standards, XML, iDocs and other Data Exchange Technologies

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of RPG and RPG ILE, SQL query building, and AS400.
  • Familiarity with PHP, HTML, and JQuery preferred.
  • Strong design, research, and problem-solving skills.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication and people skills.
  • Proven ability to work both independently on multiple tasks and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proven self-starter with interest in learning new technologies.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or similar program.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in programming and application development.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in RPG.

Compensation: $90K - $100K per year (based on experience); plus full benefit package.
